It was love at first sight when Luc and I found La Queurie in 2007.
The estate was built in the 15th century, so the renovation work turned out to be a huge adventure. The first years were spent cleaning up the property and replacing the roofs of the various buildings. In 2011 we started rebuilding and renovating the former barn to turn it into the main house. During this process it was important for us to use renewable, sustainable and organic materials. All the ideas and plans for the reconstruction were made by Luc and me.
La Queurie is located close to La Courbe, a small picturesque village situated next to the river Orne which winds its way through the Normandy. The region is characterized by an idyllic landscape and typical French villages. You can enjoy wonderful romantic walks, clear and fresh air and scenic light all year.
There are two different rooms offered to rent for a weekend or a longer holiday stay with big window fronts facing the Orne. With a little luck you can watch the grey herons fishing by the river. A fresh and delicious breakfast will be served in the dining area.
During summertime it’s possible to swim in the Orne or paddle the kayaks of which are available for rent in “La Courbe”. Children can try catching American Crabs between the stones in the water which we even can prepare in our kitchen as a a little starter for dinner.
For animal lovers La Queurie is a great destination. More than 20 sheep grazing on the surrounding meadows and the funny black feathered chicken run around the yard and provide fresh eggs for your daily breakfast. Our cats are always strolling around the house and garden but also need a lot of love and might quite often jump on your lap persuading you to sit and relax a little longer.
If you like or are interested in gardening you’re coming to the right place. I am a passionate gardener and can teach you a lot about how to cut apple trees, style typical Norman hedges or create the perfect flower bed.
And the gourmets? No need to worry, if you like to you can order delicious organic dinner.
I am native German but French by heart. Communication is possible in English as well.

C’est en 2007 que sur un coup de cœur, nous avons acheté la Queurie. Aventuriers et restaurateurs de vieilles bâtisses depuis toujours, La Queurie est notre dernière grande aventure. La demeure est constituée d’un petit manoir du 15ème entouré de plusieurs dépendances. Elle est située à 1km de La Courbe, petit village historique qui doit son nom aux nombreux méandres de l’Orne. Vous pourrez profiter du délicieux calme de la campagne, de sa lumière changeante, de son air pur et vivifiant et de ses belles balades.
C’est dans une dépendance du manoir que nous avons installé notre lieu de vie et que nous vous proposons deux vastes chambres aux hautes baies vitrées s’ouvrant sur le paysage normand. Votre petit déjeuner vous sera servi dans la pièce principale surplombant l’Orne et avec un peu de chance vous pourrez surprendre un héron blanc qui pêche ou un lièvre mal réveillé qui gambade.
L’été, les plus courageux pourront goûter les délices d’une baignade en rivière, ou louer des kayaks à Putanges pour d’inoubliables balades. Les amateurs de pêche tenteront de débusquer les poissons emblématiques de l’Orne dont la truite fario ou l’ombre commun. Les enfants pourront facilement attraper des écrevisses américaines sous les cailloux, nous nous engageons même à les cuisiner pour l’apéro!
Les amoureux des animaux trouverons dans les prés de la propriété, des moutons toujours heureux de recevoir quelques pommes ou des agneaux à caresser. Venez aussi observer les drôles de poules noires qui se promènent dans la cour. Vous pourrez même ramasser les œufs frais dans le poulailler. Et attention aux chats qui risquent de vous quémander de gros câlins à n’en plus finir.
Enfin si vous aimez le jardinage, vous êtes au bon endroit! Suivant la saison, je vous donnerais avec plaisir quelques conseils ou cours de jardinage, de taille de pommiers ou de plessage.
Et les gourmands? vous serez rassasiés! Nous vous proposons des repas champêtres bio (sur commande uniquement).
